
Spider Wo Men's Golf Earns Numerous CAA Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – After one of the most successful seasons in program history, head coach Maggie Will and three University of Richmond Spider golfers earned All-CAA honors on Tuesday.
Will was named the CAA Coach of the Year, while senior Tracy Martin was named to the All-CAA First Team. Seniors Caroline Lovette and Courtney Rousse were selected to the All-CAA Second Team.
"I am very proud of our seniors for their efforts and achievements this year," Will said. "All- Conference is a high honor and well deserved by each of them." On being named CAA Coach of the Year, Will said, "Being recognized by your peers is an amazing honor. It was a team effort. Our student athletes hit the shots and made the putts. It was a lot of fun to watch them improve 70 places in the rankings."
In her first season at the helm of the Spider women's golf program, Will helped Richmond to new heights in 2012-13. Under Will's guidance, the Spiders won two tournaments in the same season for the first time in school history, claiming tournament titles at both the Wendy's Invitational and the Pinehurst Challenge.
Along with the two team championships, the Spiders posted seven top-six finishes and finished no lower than 11th in any of their 10 tournaments on the season. At the CAA Championship, Richmond improves four spots from a year ago, finishing in fourth place.
After posting historic numbers in 2012-13, Martin earned first-team all-conference honors for the first time in her career. Martin earned at least a top-20 finish in all 10 events this year, finishing the season with seven top-10's and an individual title at the Wendy's Invitational. On the year, Martin posted a school-record scoring average of 75.04, shattering the previous mark.
Capping her Richmond career with her best season, Lovette was named Second-Team All-CAA for the first time on Tuesday. Along with winning the Pinehurst Challenge, Lovette totaled three top-10's and seven top-20 finishes on the season. For the year, Lovette posted a scoring average of 78.65 – fourth-best all-time at Richmond.
Playing the best golf of her career, Rousse ended her time at Richmond by earning Second-Team All-CAA honors. On the year, Rousse posted a scoring average of 77.27 – the fifth-best mark in school history. In total, Rousse had a pair of top-10 finishes, as well as three top-20's.
