UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond continues road action at Princeton and Villanova this weekend.
Richmond Lately
The Spiders come into Friday's game against Princeton with a 1-2-1 record. Richmond fell at No. 6 Virginia, 3-0, last Sunday. Freshman Devin O'Brien was stellar in goal, recording a game-high eight saves. Head coach Peter Alright announced earlier this week that senior All-American forward Becca Wann will miss the rest of the season with a concussion she suffered at the James Madison Tournament. Wann is a three-time All-Conference selection and ranks second all-time in goals (34) and fourth in points (55).
Scouting Princeton
Princeton hosts Richmond in its season opener Friday at 6 p.m. The Tigers went 14-4-1 last season and made an appearance in the NCAA Second Round. Princeton returns its second leading scorer, Lauren Lazo, who had 11 goals last year. The last meeting between the two teams was in 2000, with Richmond winning 3-1.
Scouting Villanova
Villanova plays at James Madison Friday night before hosting the Spiders Sunday at 1 p.m. The Wildcats enter Friday's game with a 1-1-1 mark, having recently beat Lehigh, 2-0. Dana Bernetich, Violet Miller and Natalie LeClair each had a goal. The Spiders outshot the Wildcats, 11-5, in the first half to take the eventual final score, 3-1, into halftime.
