PRINCETON, N.J. -- Richmond fell at Princeton, 2-0, Friday night at Roberts Stadium.
“We played very well tonight against a physical and talented Priceton team,” said head coach Peter Albright. “We failed to match their intensity coming out of halftime. Kaleigh Kurtz and Hunter Rooney were outstanding. Devin O'Brien had another strong performance in goal.”
Richmond (1-3-1) held Princeton scoreless for the first half, but the Tigers found their opening in the game's 50th minute when Tyler Lussi headed a ball from a pass up the endline.
Princeton (1-0-0) added insurance four minutes later when their top returning scorer, Lauren Lazo, scored off a pass inside the box.
Shannon Colligan and Erin Layne led Richmond with two shots apiece. Princeton held advantages in both corners (8-1) and shots (9-7).
Freshman goalkeeper Devin O'Brien had two saves.
Richmond continues road play at Villanova Sunday at 1 p.m.
