Meet Lauren…
Career aspirations: Basketball Coach, Physician's Assistant or a Social Worker that involves healthcare.
Three words to describe yourself: Observant, Frugal and Fearless.
Best or most memorable moment as a member of your Spider program: The best moment that I have had as a Spider was when the team & I were in the locker room towards the end of my sophomore year. It was during conference play and we were doing our normal scout on VCU for that particular game, which followed two days after. Once we had gone through all of their plays (which Coach Doyle knew like the back of her hand) and personnel Coach Doyle proceeded to say, “This is our town,” “WE RUN THIS TOWN!” We have multiple games throughout our season where it gets scrappy and extremely intense; however, VCU was the most competitive game of them all. We could not lose to them and at that point in time we had not lost to them in five years. Coach Doyle and the team got very hype going into practice with intentions to beat them!!!! I loved the excitement, energy and passion that not only the team had but Coach Doyle as a former player and Coach! She never allowed us to have a dull moment—her positive energy was contagious.
The best nickname on the team: I guess me, LT.
Strengths: I am a good on-ball defender and can shoot the three-point shot very well.
Toughest opponents: Everyone that we play is going to be tough and I do not think there is one team that stands out. Every opponent that we play has a really good basketball team.
Working to improve: Help-side defense and driving the ball to the basket with contact.
Best sports memory: Winning the Maryland 3A State Championship my junior year!! And making it to States my senior year especially after everyone projected that we would not make it past the first round of the playoffs. Even though we ended up losing, it shows the heart and passion my team had. It was also just great to have the opportunity to making and playing as far as I possibly could to the last possible game in my high school career.
Favorite meal: Glazed ham, sweet potatoes, and mac and cheese - home cooked - or wings or Chipotle.
Favorite ice cream: Cotton Candy!
On your playlist: Drake, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown
Most embarrassing thing on your playlist: A Blue's Clues song that my brother use to listen to when he was a little boy that still remains on my iPod.
If you have one wish: To have one last 24 hours spent with family members that have passed away all together as a family.
What most people don't know about you: I am really not shy, quiet, or mean. You just have to get to know me!
If you could go on any game show: The Price is Right
Hidden talent: I can dress actually very well, but I am always in athletic gear because I like being comfortable.
Dream car: Range Rover or Audi
If you could travel anywhere in the world: Australia or Africa
Favorite class: Screen-print
Pets: One dog - Cavachon (mixed Cavalier and Bichon) named Reece
Hero: My grandparents
Favorite childhood TV show: That's So Raven
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive: Lebron James
If you could have any superpower: To fly
