After scoring seven more goals this weekend, the Richmond women's soccer program finds itself among the nation's leaders in scoring through the seventh week of the season, after the latest statistics update by the NCAA.
Richmond leads the Atlantic 10 Conference with 29 goals, which places them 33rd in the nation in scoring offense. The Spiders also lead the A-10 with 38 assists, which placed them fourth in the country with 2.92 per match. With 96 points, the Spiders are 15th in the nation with 7.38 per contest.
Individually, the Spiders have a pair of teammates among the top of the list in offensive categories.
Junior Shannon Colligan (Greenwich, Connecticut) had a pair of assists in the Friday road game at Duquesne and leads the A-10 with 11 assists, which is third nationally in total, fifth in assists-per-game average, at 0.85 per contest.
Redshirt freshman Meaghan Carrigan (Greenville, South Carolina) scored both goals in the 2-2 draw at Duquesne Friday and added a goal in the Sunday home win over St. Bonaventure. She has scored a goal in the Spiders' last five contests. She leads the conference in goals, goals per game and total points. Her 11 goals rank seventh nationally, her 24 points and are 11th nationally while her 0.846 goals-per-game average puts her 12th in the national ledger.
This week, the Spiders play just one match, a Saturday night tilt at Davidson, the league's newest member. The contest will kick off at 7 p.m.
