THE SERIES
This is the 16th meeting between the two teams in a series dating back to Nov. 30, 1981. The Hoyas hold the all-time advantage with a 9-6 record. The Spiders and the Hoyas last met last season when Richmond fell by just four points, 82-78, in Washington, D.C.
THE SPIDERS
Richmond coming off an impressive 75-59 win over the Providence Friars on opening night at the Robins Center. Five Spiders scored double figures, as senior Liz Brown led with a career-high 17 points and eight rebounds. Richmond shot 45.6 percent from the floor and made 6-of-13 three-pointers to lead the entire contest versus Providence. In the win, junior Bria Powell also had an impressive outing, hitting a career-high 15 points.
THE HOYAS
The Hoyas also opened the season Friday with a win over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, defeating the Lady Hawks, 88-75, at home. Georgetown had four players in double figures and was led by Dominique Vitalis with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Hoyas shot 40.8 percent from the field and out rebounded UMES by 10 boards.
LAST TIME OUT
Five Spiders in double figures led Richmond over the Providence Friars, 75-59, in both teams season opener Friday night at the Robins Center. Senior Liz Brown led both teams with a career-high 17 points and eight rebounds as she played 33 minutes. Junior Bria Powell also hit a career-high 15 points and two assists, while Janelle Hubbard (12 points), Keri Soppe (12 points) and Genevieve Okoro (11 points) also notched double figures. This was Okoro's 49th double-digit scoring game of her career.
OKORO 37 POINTS AWAY FROM 1,000 POINT CLUB
Redshirt-senior Genevieve Okoro is just 37 points shy of becoming Richmond's 21st women's basketball player in the 1,000 points club. Okoro scored 11 points in the season opener against Providence. Okoro scored 349 points last season, while averaging 11.6 points per game. Prior to last season, Okoro had tallied 603 points.
