Spider Football Vaults Up National Rankings

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – After moving to 7-2 on the season with a 10-9 win over No. 3/4 Villanova last Saturday, the University of Richmond Spiders moved up in the national polls this week.
With its impressive win over the Wildcats, the Spiders moved up to No. 8 in the latest Sports Network Poll released on Monday – up five spot from the previous week. In the FCS Coaches Poll, Richmond moved up six places to No. 8.
Under head coach Danny Rocco, the Spiders have been a constant in the national rankings the past three seasons. In total, Richmond has been nationally ranked 21 of the past 26 weeks. The No. 8 ranking in the Sports Network Poll is the highest for the Spiders since the 2011 season.
Richmond returns to action this Saturday when the team travels to Maine to battle the 2013 CAA Champion Black Bears. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m.
