Pizetoski, Germann Lead Spiders At Kiawah Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Richmond got off to a hot start with three rounds of 73 on the first day, but finished in 10th place in the Wendy's Kiawah Classic, hosted by Charleston Southern at the Turtle Point Golf Course on Kiawah Island.
The Spiders shot a team score of 889 (+25), finishing ahead of schools like George Washington and Temple. Richmond was 10th in the 20-team field.
Senior Danny Pizetoski and junior David Germann each tied for 19th overall and the top spot on the team with scores of 221 (+5). Each player shot 73 (+1) in round one as Pizetoski followed with a 75 and 73, while Germann added two rounds of 74.
Senior Austin Romeo was the only Spider to shoot even par in any round as he started with a 73 (+1) on Sunday, followed by a 72 (E) on Monday. Unfortunately, Romeo finished with a final-round 79 (+7) on Tuesday to finish at 224 (+8) for the tournament.
Freshman Matthew Lowe rounded out the scorers with a 225 (+9) on rounds of 76-76-73. Sophomore Mark Reilly was Richmond's fifth golfer, shooting 239 (+23) for the tournament.
This weekend's tournament concluded Richmond's fall slate. The Spiders will start up the spring championship season on Feb. 23 with the Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.
