Streeter To Take Quarterbacks Position At Clemson
12/10/2014 | Football
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond Spiders head football coach Danny Rocco announced on Wednesday that offensive coordinator Brandon Streeter has resigned and been named the quarterbacks coach and recruiting coordinator at Clemson University.
“On Sunday night, Coach Streeter was offered and accepted to be the quarterbacks coach at Clemson,” Rocco said. “This move gives Coach Streeter the chance to return to his alma mater and the school where he completed his Graduate Assistantship. I am excited for Brandon and his wife Ashleigh on the opportunity that they have before them. Brandon has been on my staff the past nine years, and has done an outstanding job working with our quarterbacks and overseeing our offense. Brandon has also made a significant impact in the lives of many of our student-athletes. The Streeter family will be greatly missed and I want to wish them the best of luck on this upcoming opportunity.”
In 2014 under Streeter, the Spider offense set the single-season school record for most passing yards (4,393) and most total yards (6,453). The team also posted the third-highest scoring season in program history with 435.
Under Streeter's guidance, the Richmond offense set every single-game, season and career school record for passing in 2013. In total, six game, eight season and one career offensive records were broken. In the CAA rankings, the Spiders led the league in passing offense (328.2) and were second in total offense (441.4).
Streeter immediately made an impact during his first season at Richmond, as the Spider offense was one of the best in the country. In 2012, the team ranked 20th in the nation in passing offense (271.2) and 21st in scoring offense (33.2). The Spiders also led the nation in turnover margin (+22), as the offense only committed 10 turnovers all season.
“I would like to thank Coach Danny Rocco for the past nine years,” commented Streeter. “I will forever be grateful to him for giving me an opportunity to serve under him at Liberty University and at the University of Richmond. I have not only grown as a coach but also as a person under his direction and leadership. I respect what he stands for, his work ethic and coaching philosophy.
“My family and I are beyond excited to return to Clemson, my Alma Mater, a place that has always been special to me. I would like to thank Coach Dabo Swinney, President Clements, and the entire Athletic Department for this great opportunity to serve as Quarterbacks coach. This is truly a dream of mine, to give back to the University that has given me so much.”
A national search for Streeter's replacement will begin immediately.
