2014 Women's Soccer Year in Review

Record: 9-9-2, 3-3-2 Atlantic 10 Conference (T-7th)
Conference Tournament: 7th Seed, 0-1 (lost 2-1 to VCU at Dayton, Ohio)
- Nine wins and 29 points are the most since the 2011 season, ending a two-year drought in appearing in the Atlantic 10 Championships
- The Spiders scored 37 goals, tied for the fourth-most in a season in program history, and more than double the previous season… The team allowed 37 goals for a net zero scoring margin. Richmond's 37 goals were third in the A-10, while 46 assists led the league. The 120 total points topped the league in 2014.
- Richmond posted 46 assists, a new program record. They finished 11th in the country in assists-per-game average, 15th in total assists.
- The Spiders recorded 120 points, third-most in program history. UR was 34th in the nation with their six points per game.
- Richmond finished first in the Atlantic 10 Conference in assists per game, and tied for first in total assists, second in goals per game and shots per game, third in goals per game and seventh in total saves.
- Redshirt freshman Meaghan Carrigan and junior Ashley Riefner were named to the A-10 All-Conference First Team as forwards.
- Carrigan was selected as Rookie of the Year, the third time a Spider was named the league's top rookie, but the first time in the A-10. She and teammate Lexi Prillaman were named to the All-Rookie Team.
- Carrigan led all freshmen in the conference and finished tied for third with 14 goals, the UR team-leading total and the third-most in a single season in program history. Only freshman Charde Hanna of South Alabama scored more goals in her first collegiate year than Carrigan did in 2014. Her 33 points (including five assists) was third in the league and the third-most in program history. She is second all-time at UR with five multi-goal games in a season. She already sits 10th in program history for career goals.
- Riefner ended the season with nine goals and nine assists for 27 points, sixth-most in the A-10 and sixth-most in a single season at UR. She was fifth in goal scoring and fourth in assists and assists per game in the A-10. Her nine assists were third-most for a Spider in a season and her nine goals were tied for ninth for a season as a Spider. In three seasons, she is seventh in assists per game and tied for seventh in total assists, while her two penalty kicks made are third-most in program history for both a single season and career.
- Junior Shannon Colligan netted 12 assists for the season, finishing second in the league and second-most in program history for a single season, one behind the all-time leader. Her assist total was 14th-best in the nation and she was 10th in assists-per-game average (0.60) in the NCAA. In two seasons, she sits sixth for career assists, second in assists per game, and 10th in points per game for a career.
- Freshman Katie Brennan was credited with all four Richmond shutouts and finished tied for second in the A-10 in shutouts per game (four in 10 games played). Her four shutouts are already eighth for a keeper for a career.
- The Spiders had goals scored from nine different players and assists from 11 different players
- UR posted shutouts in three-consecutive games, the tenth time in program history a streak of three-or-more straight shutouts was posted by the Spiders, a run of 336:06 of shutout soccer.
- The single-game record for assists (three) was tied twice, first by Ashley Riefner (CSU, 9/7) and later by Lexi Prillaman (JMU, 9/28)
- The season high for goals was three, set by Riefner against Princeton, 9/19. It was UR's first hat trick since 2011.
- The Spiders earned an A-10 weekly honor six times, an all-time program high for the Spiders in the A-10. Carrigan winning Rookie of the Week three times (9/8, 9/29 and 10/27), the first-ever Spider to win the rookie honor that many times. Olivia Aha won Co-Rookie of the Week once (9/22) and Brennan earned Rookie of the Week on 10/13. Riefner took home Co-Player of the Week on 9/22.
