Spider Spotlight: Local Midfielder Emily Drummond
02/27/2014 | Women's Soccer
Local midfielder Emily Drummond will look to continue a celebrated career at Richmond in the fall of 2014. The Midlothian, Virginia native is another 2014 incoming Spider hailing from the State Cup Champion and Disney Showcase Champion Richmond Kickers team.
Throughout her soccer career at Midlothian High School, Drummond has earned First-Team All-District, First-Team All-Metro, and First-Team All-Region honors. Her speed and utility on the field will greatly benefit the Spiders this fall.
"Emily has two qualities that will make her a very valuable addition to our program. First, she has exceptional speed, and she uses it to great advantage, both offensively and defensively. She can run at players, stretch defenses, and she is a very good defender with great recovery speed and tracking ability,” commented Head Coach Peter Albright.
“Secondly, Emily is extremely versatile. She has high-level playing experience at wing, forward, center midfield and outside back.”
An honor student at Midlothian High School, Drummond's athleticism, adaptability and fierce desire to succeed will serve her well as she enters her rookie campaign this fall.
“Emily has the instincts and ultra-competitiveness that we expect will make her an immediate contributor,” concluded Albright.
Emily is one of nine freshmen entering their rookie season in the fall of 2014. Check back for spotlights on more Spider Soccer newcomers coming soon.
