02/07/2014 | Women's Soccer
University of Richmond Head Coach Peter Albright officially announced the nine members of the 2014 women's soccer recruiting class this week.
Olivia Aha, Hannah Cornman, Emily Drummond, Maeve Holland, Lexi Prillaman, Alexis Pringle, Katie Brennan, Janell Spigner, and Lindsey Williams will begin their rookie seasons in the fall of 2014.
This incoming class consists of three forwards, three midfielders, two defenders, and one goalkeeper. Albright is optimistic about the incoming class's talent and ability to make an immediate impact on his program.
“The 2014 recruiting class features top level recruits at all positions: Back, Forward, Wide, Central and Goalkeeper,” he said. “With nine talented players joining our team, I expect several to make immediate, significant contributions.”
The 2014 class will be pivotal in raising the level of play and competitiveness for the program. Albright praised the group's competitiveness, athletic maturity, and drive.
“I would characterize this group as diverse in their strengths and positions, and alike in that they are all tough, smart, determined athletes,” he said.
“This will be a core group that will positively influence the Richmond Spiders Soccer program for years to come. I look forward to introducing them to our soccer community.”
These nine newcomers will join 21 returning players, as the team loses five four-year starters from the 2013 squad. The returners will compete in a five-match spring schedule to be announced soon.
