Did You Know...
• Bernetich was in the Emerging Leaders program in the summer of 2014 and earned a summer internship with Ernst & Young, one of the "Big Four professional services networks" following her junior year (summer, 2015)... A group of prospects were touring Citizens Bank Park (home of the Philadelphia Phillies) and when they got the part of the tour that took them onto the field, it was announced to them on the large video scoreboard that they were selected for an internship.
• She hopes to study in Barcelona, Spain in the spring semester of 2015, but needs to learn Catalan, the language spoken mostly in that region of Spain. "Weather and culture were the two factors I considered the most when deciding on where I wanted to study abroad. (Teammate Samantha Cicconi) spent her semester there and said she would get me in touch with a team to play on there and I look forward to running around the city, learning about the culture there."
• She discovered accounting as a major and a passion in her second semester of college. "My teacher (Visiting Instructor of Accounting Phil Rohrbach) inspired me actually. He is a partner at Ernst and Young. Accounting is a great major for any business occupation. I came to Richmond thinking about a business degree and just fell into accounting.
• A two-sport star during her prep career, Bernetich was part of a hurdle relay team that won a state title in New Jersey. When forced to choose between running at Nationals and a soccer tournament, she chose soccer. "I just love to compete. I hated running outside (in the cold of New Jersey) in the wintertime, but I love winning. That speed on the track has served me well in soccer. Having longer legs makes longer sprints a lot easier as a defender."
