MANAKIN-SABOT, Va. – Despite a strong final round on Tuesday, the Richmond men's golf team finished ninth in the VCU Shootout at the Hermitage Country Club in Manakin-Sabot, Va.
The Spiders shot 11-over par as a team in the final round, the fifth-best final round among the 13-team field. Richmond improved a combined nine strokes over Monday's rounds, but still finished at 33-over-par (897) to place ninth.
“I'm really proud of the guys today,” head coach Adam Decker said. “The effort was really good. We started off fantastically and were one of the low teams out there. We gave a few away coming, but we're still a young team. We're still figuring out who we are. We can learn a lot from this week and keep improving.”
