Baseball Announces Fall Series Schedule
10/27/2015 | Baseball
Richmond baseball begins its fall Blue-Red series with game one scheduled for Saturday, October 31 at 10 a.m. as part of UR's Homecoming Weekend, head coach Tracy Woodson announced today.
The teams for the series were picked via draft Tuesday morning, with the coaches of each squad, assistant coaches Matt Tyner and Josh Davis, selecting their teams. The teams are available through the Spider Baseball twitter feed.
The squads are broken down into two 15-player teams, which will face off in game one this Saturday morning. Game two is scheduled for November 6, with the time to be determined. Game three is slated for November 14th, also TBA on the start time.
“It's nice to have enough position players to have two full squads this fall,” said Woodson. “We have a lot of guys who want to play more than one day per week, so we have quite a few two-way players on our 30-man roster.”
Due to weather, the team has lost a few practice times via rainout. That means the end of the fall series will not mean the end of fall practice, so the team will remain out at Pitt Field to fulfill their allotment of NCAA team practice availability.
The 2016 season commences with a weekend tournament at UNC Wilmington, starting with a game against St. john's on February 19, at noon.
