"We are just super excited, that was a barn burner over the last mile. Going in to this we knew we would be head to head with Duquesne. We really knew that last mile and last half mile was where we had to get it done and we did," said head coach Lori Taylor. "I am really proud of the way this team has come together worked hard and run as a team. Every person on our team counted, they all ran really hard, ran for their team and didn't hold back. When others aren't having a good day, the girls step up and that's what they did today."
In total, the University of Richmond picked up four All-Conference awards between the men and women in Tara Hanley, Courtney Thompson, Matt McKenna and Alex Lucking.
The Atlantic 10 cross country women's coach of the year award went to Spider head coach Lori Taylor.
This is Richmond's first cross country championship since 2010 when the men and women took home the trophy.
