Richmond freshman midfielder Keaira Clark (Potomac, Maryland) was today named to the 2015 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer All-Rookie Team, as voted on by the league's 14 head coaches.
Clark was fourth in minutes played for the season for the Spiders, averaging barely less than 80 minutes per game through the 18-game regular season, primarily as the teams center defensive midfielder. She started all but the last two games of the year for the Spiders. She did find herself in the mix when the team pressed forward, scoring a goal in the 2-2 road tie at Massachusetts, giving the Spiders the lead with a go-ahead goal with less than five minutes to go in regulation in Amherst. She played a career-high 110 minutes in that contest.
“For the majority of our season, Keaira was our best player,” said Richmond head coach Peter Albright. “She slowed down at the end of the season due to exhaustion, but she is a special talent.”
The Spiders finished the 20th season of women's soccer at the institution Sunday, with a 3-2 home win over archrival VCU at Robins Stadium. The Spiders were 5-12-1 overall, 3-6-1 in the Atlantic 10.
