More Excitement Planned At Robins Center In 15-16

The 2015-16 Richmond Spiders Men's Basketball season starts next Friday, November 13 at 7 PM at the Robins Center! Last season, the Robins Center was ROCKING and we were not surprised to hear that the University of Miami's Head Basketball Coach, Jim Larranaga, compared the crazy environment at Robins Center to Cameron Indoor Stadium at Duke! Your Spiders were 16-4 last year and won more home games than any year in program history! Who could ever forget beating VCU in double overtime, the RED OUT vs. George Washington and those crazy NIT games vs. St. Francis, Arizona State and Miami? Don't miss out on all of the excitement this season! Tickets for all games are selling FAST! Here are just some of the highlights of the upcoming season:
Check out new “Dick Tarrant Court." On opening night Friday, November 13 vs. JMU, you will get a first-hand look at new “Dick Tarrant Court." At halftime of the game, you will get a chance to honor the Spider great himself, Dick Tarrant. Look for special tributes and be there to see the first balls bounce on “Dick Tarrant Court."
- Look for a fresh take on the Spider player introductions—a new intro video and some other surprises.
- You will get to know our Spider basketball student-athletes again on an intimate level on our massive videoboards! Look for fun, new video segments where you will get to meet our Spiders up close and personal!
- The Athletics Department will host another official RED OUT game vs. Davidson on January 23 at 12:30 PM. Get your official, FREE Richmond Spiders T-shirt and let's make the Wildcats see SPIDER RED!
- Look for some fun and interesting promos like Basketball and Brew Night and Star Wars Night! On Saturday, December 5, vs. Northern Iowa at 6 PM visit Millhiser Gym pregame (from 4pm-530pm) and sample some craft beers from some of the most popular craft breweries in Richmond, VA and on Saturday December 12 at 6:00 PM vs. Longwood, see many of your favorite Star Wars characters live and in-person only six days before the world premiere of Star Wars The Force Awakens!!
- Did you hear that NCAA.com voted our game vs. Northern Iowa at the Robins Center as the fourth best “must see” non-conference game in all of college basketball?!
- Our halftimes will continue to rock with our traditional fan favorites like the Virginia529 Diaper Derby vs. Davidson on January 23 and the Mascot game February 6 vs UMASS. And look for our new “Bring It On” competition where local area high school dance teams compete against each other! We will also have national acts such as Zooperstars on January 16 vs. VCU, Cowboy Monkeys January 2 vs. St. Joe's and you may quite possibly see ELVIS in the building November 21 vs. Bethune Cookman!
- We are trying a new event: A Richmond Spider season ticket holder VCU watch party at Robins Center. For the first time ever, come to the Robins Center with your closest friends to cheer on the Spiders as we take on VCU on Friday, February 19 at 7 PM at the Siegel Center.
- Students are primed and ready to go. Students will once again have their pregame parties with local bands, food, costumes and other fun activities. But this year we have made it easier for them to claim tickets and they will have a DJ in the student section pregame to get them hyped up and ready to go.
