First Year Spotlight: Keaira Clark
02/19/2015 | Women's Soccer
Each week, the Spider Soccer squad will highlight one of the upcoming 2015 additions, recently added to the roster. Here is the complete list.
Keaira Clark, a midfielder from Potomac Maryland, is one of the newcomers to join the Spiders in 2015. Clark is a four-year standout for Bethesda ECNL as well as Winston Churchill HS. A regular selection to the USYSA Region 1 Team, Keaira has traveled to Germany and Costa Rica with Region 1 and was named to the interregional All Star Team in 2014. She was also named to the Maryland All-State Team in 2013 and 2014 for her work in the Winston Churchill midfield.
“Keaira has a rare combination of qualities that has made her stand out among the best midfielders in the country," said head Peter Albright.
"Although small in stature, she is very tough in the tackle and is an excellent defender. She reads the game and initiates counterattacks very well. She also has a complete set of attacking skills and is a very good passer of the ball. We believe that Keaira has the qualities that will allow her to challenge for a spot in the first 11 immediately.”
"She is also a tireless worker, a 'character kid' and a great teammate. She is a great addition to the program!”
Richmond returns nine starters from its 2014 lineup and brings back a pair of All-Atlantic 10 Conference forwards, a pair of A-10 All-Rookie selections and the 2014 Rookie of the Year. All but two of the 36 goals Richmond scored last year were from players returning to the roster this coming fall.
The 2015 campaign starts with a home date against Campbell on August 21.
