
Spiders Prepare For Patriot League Championship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Richmond women's golf will travel to Annapolis, Md. for the 2015 Patriot League Championship at the Naval Academy Golf Club.
The two-day event will begin on Saturday, April 18 at 8:30 AM with the first two rounds, and conclude on Sunday, April 19 at 8:30 AM with the final round. The course will play at 6,085 yards with 72 strokes for par.
"Our team is prepared to compete in the Patriot League Championship this weekend," head coach Ali Wright said. "I am proud of our players, because they have worked hard all year to get themselves ready."
This year marks Richmond's first season in the Patriot League for women's golf. The Spiders will be competing against Boston University, Bucknell, Holy Cross, Lehigh and Navy.
UR is coming off a strong finish in their last tournament, tying for eighth at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate. Freshman Elsa Diaz earned Patriot League Player of the Week Honorable Mention accolades after shooting a +13 (229) to tie for seventh overall.
On the season, Elsa Diaz has averaged 77.30 strokes with a low round of 70 (-2). Junior Jessica Lydia has sported two top-10 finishes and two top-20 finishes, averaging 77.52 strokes per round. Senior Sara Diaz has also had a solid season, playing in all eight events with a low round of 73 (+1).
Last season, UR finished eighth in the CAA tournament.
