HARMONY, Fla. - Richmond junior David Germann led the Spiders with a three-under 69 in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championships at the Harmony Golf Preserve in Harmony, Fla.
After bogeying the first hole, Germann went on to card four birdies and a round full of pars en route to his second-best round of his career. He currently ranks fourth overall in the individual standings.
"We started off the first round well, but we didn't finish our putting as well on the back nine," head coach Adam Decker said. "It's obviously still early in the tournament and we have a lot of holes to play to improve and make up ground. We are excited to get going tomorrow morning."
Richmond will enter Saturday's second round tied for seventh in the standings with a team score of +6. Davidson is currently in first place at -4.
Austin Romeo finished with a 74 (+2) as the second-highest Spider player. He hit four birdies, including three on the front nine. Danny Pizetoski slowed down on the back nine to finish at 75 (+3), after he went -1 on the front nine.
Matthew Lowe carded a 76 (+4) and Keegan Hoff finished at 77 (+5).
Hoff will open tomorrow's second round with a tee time of 8:15 a.m. The Spiders will be paired with George Mason and Saint Joseph's.
