Spiders Host Dayton On Senior Weekend At Pitt Field

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team will play its final three home games of the season this weekend at the newly-renovated Pitt Field when it plays host to Atlantic 10 rival Dayton.
The three-game series gets underway on Friday at 3 p.m. at Pitt Field. Senior Day will be on Saturday, with festivities beginning at 12:30 p.m. before the 1 p.m. scheduled first pitch. Sunday's finale will start at 10 a.m.

Senior Day
Head coach Tracy Woodson and the Richmond Spiders baseball team will honor seven graduating seniors at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The seven seniors being recognized will be Chris Bates, Ryan Cook, Ray Harron, James Lively, Zak Sterling, Dylan Stoops and Joey Vecchione.
Scouting the Spiders
The Richmond Spiders enter the weekend having two of their last three games, pushing the team's overall record on the season to 23-20 and its Atlantic 10 conference mark to 11-7. Currently, the Spiders sit fourth place in the league. Seven teams earn bids to the Atlantic 10 Tournament this season.
Freshman Kyle Adams continues to lead the team in hitting, as the rookie is hitting a team-high .357 with six doubles and 30 RBI. 3B Matt Dacey leads the A-10 with 15 home runs and the team with 42 RBI, while OF Michael Morman has driven in 40 runs on the season while batting .348.
On the mound, senior RHP Ryan Cook has had a tremendous season, leading the team with six victories and 60 strikeouts in 69 innings pitched. Out of the bullpen, senior RHP Ray Harron has been outstanding, posting a 1.11 ERA to go with a team-best seven saves.
Scouting the Flyers
The Dayton Flyers come to Richmond having also won two of the their last games, moving the team's overall record to 14-33 on the season and to 3-15 in league play. Entering the weekend, the Flyers sit in 12th place in the Atlantic 10.
On the season, Dayton is hitting .241 as a team with 82 doubles, 19 homers and 176 RBI. On the mound, the Flyers have recorded a team ERA of 5.32 with 312 strikeouts in 416 innings pitched.
The Series
The Flyers have dominated the recent history between the two teams, as Dayton has won the last eight series against the Spiders. Richmond has not won a series against UD since sweeping a three-game set in Dayton in 2003.
On Deck
After the three-game series with Dayton, Richmond will play its final midweek game of the season at No. 24 Virginia on Tuesday.
