17 Richmond Spiders To Play In Summer Leagues

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - With the 2015 season behind them, 17 University of Richmond Spider baseball players will be playing summer league baseball around the country over the next couple months.
“We have a lot more student-athletes playing this summer which hopefully gets them more experience and ready to go for next season,” Richmond head coach Tracy Woodson said. “With the amount of pitching we lose, this will be a big time for some of the players to go out and get innings and get experience.”
The 17 Spider student-athletes will be playing in nine different summer leagues over the next few weeks, including three in the prestigious Cape Cod League. OF Tanner Stanley and 3B Matt Dacey will play for the Cotuit Kettleers, while OF Jansen Fraser will suit up for the Orleans Firebirds.
“The Cape Cod League is the premier summer league in the country and to have three players go in there this summer shows the type of student-athletes we have at Richmond. Hopefully they have successful summers and we can keep a pipeline in to that league.”
