Indoor Track & Field Competes At Art And Linda Maillet Open

Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Richmond Women's Indoor Track & Field team completed its first meet of 2016 at the Art and Linda Maillet UNC Open on Saturday, January 16th.
The Spiders finished the day with some impressive individual performances, as well as a team victory in the distance medley race.
In the women's distance medley race, the Richmond team consisting of Haley Preschutti, Jade Gregory, Kylie Regan and Courtney Thompson, finished in first place with a time of 12:17.10. Finishing in second was the second Richmond team consisting of Amanda Corbosiero, Marshea Robinson, Stephanie Hughes and Shelby Cain, with a time 12:25.04.
Another standout performer of the day was Mary Allen, who finished second out of 31 competitors in the 200 meter dash with a time 25.36. Allen also finished sixth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.78 seconds.
In the 800 meter run Spiders Sarah Hipwell and Emma Slevin finished in third and fifth with times of 2:23.73 and 2:24.02 respectively.
Performing well in the distance events were Kelly Bailey and Ave Grosenheider who finished second and third in the 3000 meter run with times of 10:31.27 and 10:34.53 respectively.
In the pole vault event Sarah Timko finished in seventh with a 3.20 meter jump. In the shot put, Alena McGonigle finished with a 9.05 meter throw.
The Spiders will be back on the track on Friday, January 22nd as the team heads to Blacksburg to compete in the Hokie Invite.
