Richmond Comes Up Short In Match Play Finale

WATERVILLE, IRELAND - Richmond played several matches down to the final holes, but ultimately came up just short in the second day of match play against Rutgers and University College Cork.
The Spiders scored 9.5 points today, but Rutgers was able to add to its two-point lead entering the day with 11.5 more points on Monday.
Sophomore Sophie DiPetrillo performed well, turning two defeats on Sunday into wins on Monday as she downed Rutgers and Cork.
Isabella Rusher came up short to Rutgers but beat Cork, while Elsa Diaz also lost to Rutgers and tied Cork.
Marie Donnici lost to Rutgers and tied Cork and Annie Collom lost to both Rutgers and Cork. Senior Maria Pons Cano tied her match against Rutgers and was victorious against Cork.
Kayleigh Reed and Phoebe Short came up strong with sweep victories over both Rutgers and Cork in their pairings.
The Spiders return to American soil with the fall competition finale at Louisville on Oct. 23-25.
