NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— Three University of Richmond women's soccer standouts were named to the 2016 Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Junior Lexi Prillaman and freshmen Brooke Beam and Alyssa Walker were all honored by the conference after leading the team to one of the most efficient offensive seasons in program history.
Prillaman was named to the Atlantic 10 Second Team after a breakout year on the forward line. The Magnolia, Del., native led the team in every offensive category, scoring 12 goals and assisting on eight others for 32 points on the year. She finished the regular season tied for second in conference in assists (8) and assists per game (0.42). She was also third in the conference in points (32), points per game (1.68), goals (12) and fourth in goals per game (0.63).
Prillaman's most notable moment of the season came in the Spiders' 4-2 win over rival JMU, when she scored four times, tying the program record set back in 1997. She was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week and to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week for her efforts that week. This is her second All-Conference honor, after earning All-Rookie accolades in 2014.
Beam was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team after posting outstanding play in the midfield throughout the season. The Dagsboro, Del., native scored three goals and added four assists to finish fourth on the team with 10 points. Beam was the only rookie in the conference to be named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week twice this season.
Walker joins Beam on the A-10 All-Rookie Team for her efforts in 2016. The Centerville, Ohio, native was one of three Spiders to start all 19 games, and was a force in the midfield throughout the year. Walker scored five goals and added two assists to finish third on the team with 12 points, while two of her goals were game winners – the first in overtime against Holy Cross, and the second against La Salle.
The Spiders wrapped up the 2016 season with a 9-9-1 overall record and 4-6 mark in conference play.
