"We showed some toughness in our defense in that first half which led to our run," head coach Chris Mooney said. "That defensive stretch obviously impacted our offense in a positive way. After Robert Morris took an early lead, the Spiders went on a 19-2 run to take a 29-20 lead after a steal and finish from Buckingham. The half ended with a flourish as Wood drained a three, the Spiders got a stop and then Buckingham brought the house down with a put-back one-hand slam dunk.
Sophomore Joe Kirby then found Wood with the seconds ticking away for a dagger three that made it 39-27 at the break.
Two threes from Wood and a layup from Jones gave the Spiders their largest lead at 47-27 just a minute and a half into the second half, marking a 37-10 run.
The Colonials scrapped throughout the rest of the second half, led by Isaiah Still's 20 points, but Richmond responded with strong free throw shooting and timely threes and the margin never got closer than eight points, as UR salted away a 12-point victory.
