11/03/2016 | Football
FRISCO, Texas – As teams around the country enter the final month of the regular season in FCS football, the playoff committee announced playoff standings for the first time ever.
On the heels of a four-game win streak and three victories over nationally-ranked opponents, the Richmond Spiders found themselves at #7 in the first-ever standings with #5 slotted JMU coming to Robins Stadium this weekend.
Richmond sits at 7-1 this fall, tied for the second-best start in program history, and 4-1 in the CAA, which puts the Spiders in a five-way tie for second-place in the league entering the final three weeks.
The committee will announce their top-10 each of the next two weeks (Nov. 10 and Nov. 17) before the final selection show on Sunday, November 20.
A total of 24 teams make the FCS playoffs with the top-eight seeds earning a bye before hosting a second round matchup on their home fields.
