11/04/2016 | Football
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - In one of the most highly anticipated home games in recent memory, the #6/7 ranked Richmond Spiders are set to host #7/5 JMU in yet another televised contest that has been named FCS Stats Game of the Week.
Both teams were placed in the top-10 in the first-ever FCS Playoff Standings released this week and with JMU sitting as the only undefeated team in CAA play, it's a critical matchup in the standings for both sides.
Last year, the two teams did battle in front of one of the largest crowds in FCS history at JMU when the Spiders took home a 59-49 victory over the Dukes after ESPN's College GameDay visited Harrisonburg.
Live audio for Saturday's game can be found on RichmondSpiders.com with Live Stats available on RichmondSpiders.com. The game will be broadcast live on CSN+ and SpiderTV.

QUICK SLANTS
- Richmond returns to action after the bye week to host one of the most highly anticipated games in recent memory and the FCS National Game of the Week when the seventh-ranked Dukes of JMU visit a sold out Robins Stadium.
- Under Coach Rocco, the Spiders are 3-1 coming off a bye. Richmond is 10-5 coming off the bye in the past 15 years.
- Richmond and JMU played an absolute classic in Harrisonburg last year after ESPN's College GameDay visited JMU's campus. The Spiders pulled out a 59-49 victory, putting up over 700 yards of total offense on the day.
- The lights on the scoreboard might get a workout as today's matchup pits the CAA's top two offenses against each other (Richmond - 31.0, JMU 49.4). In the past four UR-JMU matchups, the two teams have combined for 79.0 ppg in those contests.
- The Spiders will be taking on their fourth nationally-ranked opponent of the year, while JMU will be facing its first of the season.
- Richmond enters today with a school record 11-game home unbeaten streak with the Spiders setting the record with a win over Towson, 31-28, on Oct. 1. Prior to the current streak, Richmond had won nine straight home games three different times in school history (1918-20, 1968-70, 1984-86).
- The current 11-game home unbeaten is the second longest active streak in the country behind only Jacksonville State, who has won 13 straight home games. The streak is currently the fifth longest in all of Division I (Clemson 20, Navy 14, Houston/Jack. St. 13)
- Today's matchup is expected to be the 27th sellout in the six-plus year history of Robins Stadium. The Spiders are 31-10 (.756) here at the stadium. During Coach Rocco's four-plus seasons, Richmond is 25-5 (.833) inside the friendly confines.
- Richmond is 26-12 (.684) in home conference games since joining the league in 2007.
- The current five-game win streak makes it five straight years, every yeard under Coach Rocco that the Spiders have posted a win streak of four or more games. Last year, Richmond won seven straight games, the longest win streak under Coach Rocco and the third longest in school-history.
- The Spiders have won 19 of their past 25 CAA contests dating back to the 2013 season.
- Since Richmond joined the league in 2007, the Spiders and the Dukes are two of just four programs to win 45 or more games over that span (UNH and Villanova are the only other two).
- A victory today would give the Spiders just the second 8-1 start in school history (2009 was the only other time). This year is the second straight season that Richmond has started 7-1.
