Tyler Beckwith Earns A-10 Player of the Week Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Senior Tyler Beckwith was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, after the first weekend of the 2016 season. Beckwith finished the weekend 7-for-12 (.583) at the dish with six RBI and four runs.
In the season opener against St. John's, he went 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBI, and was a homer shy of hitting for the cycle. In the finale of the Battle for the Beach Tournament, Beckwith led off the game with a triple and scored the first run giving the Spiders a 1-0 advantage over UNCW. He finished the game 2-for-4 on Sunday with three RBI.
Beckwith and the Spiders will return to the diamond Tuesday afternoon at Longwood, before opening their home schedule on Friday afternoon.
