UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – For the second straight year more than half of Richmond's athletic programs earned perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores.
10 of Richmond's 16 intercollegiate teams achieved a perfect APR score for this past academic year.
The average APR score for the 16 programs in 2014-15 was 990, just 10 points away from a perfect score as a department.
“We're certainly proud of the hard work that our student-athletes, coaches, faculty and staff have put forth to earn these APR achievements,” Athletic Director Keith Gill said. “These scores and recognition are a direct result of their efforts to continually keep the academic health of our athletic department at a high level.”
Several Richmond athletic programs were recognized nationally for ranking in the top 10 in their respective sports. For the fifth consecutive year, the Spiders had at least four teams be honored. Men's cross country, swimming & diving, soccer and track & field were all recognized by the NCAA.
