Spiders Drop Tough 4-1 Decision In A-10 Quarterfinals

MASON, Ohio – Despite five-of-six singles matches going to a third set, the University of Richmond women's tennis team ended its season on Friday morning.
The Spiders battled, but could not overcome a Saint Louis 3-0 lead and eventually fell to the Billikens, 4-1, in the Atlantic 10 Championship Quarterfinals.
Saint Louis took the doubles point when Eleonore and Verginia Tchakarova defeated Brittany Boys and Katya Salas, 6-4, on court 1 and Aspen Cervin and Madison Tru Cook defeated Gaby Rosales and Ana Ramirez, 6-2, on court 2.
The Billikens added to their lead when Rosales fell to Eleonore Tchakarova, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 and Boys fell, 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-1 to Verginie Tchakarova at No. 3.
The Spiders climbed back into the match when Ramirez defeated Cook at No. 4 in comeback fashion, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, but saint Louis clinched the match when Cervin posted a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Anna Abadias Morales at court 1.
Richmond wraps up its season with a 13-10 record, including a 3-4 mark in A-10 play. The Spiders will now look to the 2016-17 season, when they will return four of six singles players.
