UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Following a dominant 4-2 performance over in-state rival James Madison on Friday night, junior Lexi Prillaman and freshman Brooke Beam were honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Prillaman was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week, while Beam earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Prillaman had one of the most dominant offensive showings in program history against the Dukes, scoring a record-tying four goals in the win. Her four tallies tied Brooke Sands' 19-year old mark that was set on September 23, 1997 against Howard. Prillaman has scored a goal in all three of Richmond's games this season and leads the nation in goals per game with 2.0. Her six goals this season is the second-most nationally.
Beam recorded her first career points in Friday's win over the Dukes, collecting a pair of assists. The Dagsboro, Delaware native helped control movement in the midfield, feeding excellent passes to Prillaman and recording two shots on goal of her own. Beam played all 90 minutes in the contest, and becomes the first Spider to win Rookie of the Week honors since the 2014 season.
The Spiders are 2-1 on the season after the win, and currently rank 27th nationally in scoring offense, scoring 2.67 goals per game.
