Cline, Buckingham Win Atlantic 10 Weekly Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Richmond senior T.J. Cline and Spider freshman De'Monte Buckingham both earned Atlantic 10 honors this week, as announced by the conference office.
Cline was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week after he led the Spiders on a 2-0 week. He averaged 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists on the week. He nearly tallied a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in Saturday's win at Saint Joseph's.
Cline leads the league with 6.4 assists per game in conference play. He's also in the top 10 in points and rebounds with a shooting percentage of 52.6 percent. His 7.4 defensive rebounds per game are tied for second in the Atlantic 10. Cline has tallied six double-doubles this year and has nearly recorded a triple-double on three different occasions.
The award marks Cline's third Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor. He has won more Player of the Week honors than any other A-10 player.
Buckingham won his second-straight Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week award as he continues to play as one of the best freshmen in conference play. Last week, Buckingham averaged 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest. He tallied his first career double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds against St. Bonaventure last week. He also shot 90 percent from the free throw line and hit five three-pointers on the week.
The rookie continues to stuff the stat sheet as he tallied three assists, two blocks and four steals last week. He ranks third in the league with 2.0 steals per game in conference play. Buckingham's 16.6 points per game in A-10 play leads all freshmen and ranks seventh overall.
