Spiders Fall at Saint Louis, 3-0

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Richmond women's soccer team put up a fight at perennial Atlantic 10 power Saint Louis, but were unable to overcome a strong Billiken offense, falling 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

After the Spiders held the hosts off of the board for the opening 16 minutes, Saint Louis took control, scoring off of two-consecutive corner plays to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

Goalkeeper Katie Brennan logged six saves in the opening half.

The Billikens came out hot in the second half, scoring on a low shot into the left side of the goal just over two minutes in to take a 3-0 lead.

The Spiders had a prime opportunity in the 64th minute when Alyssa Walker earned a free kick near the Saint Louis goal, but Lexi Prillaman's shot sailed high.

Saint Louis finished with a 29-7 shot advantage. Walker led the team with five shots, while Brennan and freshman goalkeeper Olivia Sjodin combined for eight saves on the day.

The Spiders return to action on Thursday, October 19, when they travel to face reigning A-10 Tournament Champion Dayton. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
