Hogue, Carney Lead Spiders at Atlantic 10 Championship

LEESBURG, Va. --Â A pair of Richmond runners finished inside the top-five at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday morning. Senior Johnny Hogue and junior Colleen Carney led the Spiders at the Championship, both picking up All-Conference honors.Â
Carney, who placed fifth overall in the women's 5K race, clocked a time of 18:00.2, just ahead of senior Kylie Regan (18:13.2), who registered an eighth place finish to lead the Spiders to a second-place team finish. Senior Amanda Corbosiero was the leader of the next Spider pack, crossing at 18:18.4, right before classmate Shelby Cain (18:23.8), junior Ave Grosenheider (18:24.6) and sophomore Peyton McGovern (18:28.2). Sophomore Eryn Mills (18:56.4) rounded out the scoring for the Spiders, while junior Jordan Angers (19:05.1), sophomore Claire Brown (19:11.7) and freshman Caroline Robelen (19:29.5) completed the Richmond competition roster.Â
The men's 8K got things started on championship morning, Hogue found himself in the lead pack the whole race. He crossed the line at 25:25.8 for fifth place, 13 seconds behind the men's individual winner Manuel de Backer from Saint Louis.Â
Also on the men's side, sophomore Miles Clikeman turned in a time of 26:20.8 to finish 33rd overall. Sophomores Will Alpaugh (27:14.4) and Seamus Otto (27:18.2) battled with their rivals in the finishing chute to place inside the top-100. Freshman Noah Yuro completed his first A-10 Championship race with a time of 28:22.8.Â
Regan and Corbosiero joined Carney and Hogue earning All-Conference honors. Robelen was among the top-seven freshmen finishers in the race en route to All-Rookie honors.Â
The Spiders will compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional on November 10 in Charlottesville.Â
