Spiders Wrap-Up Action at Patriot Invitational

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Spiders wrapped up the three-day Patriot Invitational on Saturday afternoon with five top-ten finishes. Richmond finished in sixth-place in the three-day event with 353 total points.

Sophomore Virginia Marsh placed second in the 100 free on Saturday touching the wall at 50.44. Classmate Hannah Gouger took sixth in the 200 back at 2:03.21, while senior Hannah Verrette (2:04.45) and junior Nicole Piercy (2:05.61) placed 11th and 15th, respectively. In the bonus final of the event, freshman Ellie Ronan turned in a time of 2:03.31.

Senior Erin Barry took sixth in the 200 breast stroke clocking a time of 2:22.94 while classmate Annie Lane also took sixth in the 1,650 free (17:13.64). Piercy touched the wall at 17:36.28 while freshman Sarah Mautino touched at 18:09.95. Junior Morgan Soulia won the bonus final of the 200 fly by four-seconds with a time of 2:04.84.

The Spiders closed out the Patriot Invitational with a third-place finish in the 200 free relay. The team of Marsh, freshman Jordan Kohut, Soulia and Lane, turned in a time of 3:27.58 to finish two-seconds behind UNCW and Drexel.

The Spiders return to action on Saturday, December 2 when they travel to our nation's capital for a dual meet with Atlantic 10 foe, George Washington.
