LAST TIME OUT
Richmond picked up a huge win at home against UMass (9-18, 3-11 A-10) on Wednesday night, 56-45, to move into eight place in the Atlantic 10 standings and in position for a home game in the conference tournament with just two games left in the regular season.
SHAFER WINS 200TH
With the win over UMass, head coach Michael Shafer became the first coach in program history to reach the 200-win milestone. He is already the winningest head coach in program history and with win No. 200 is just the seventh coach in Richmond athletic department history to reach that number joining men's basketball coach Chris Mooney and women's tennis coach Mark Wesselink as the only other active Spider coaches with at least 200 wins on his ledger. He also joins Cindy Griffin at Saint Joseph's as the only active A-10 coaches to reach that number at their current institution.
Hinds-Clarke 3x A-10 Rookie of the Week
Earlier this season Jaide Hinds-Clarke earned recognition as the Atlantic Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks. After taking a small step back, midway through conference play, she re-emerged last week with arguably her best as a Spider. The Westwood, N.J. native matched UMass freshman Hailey Leidel for the most A-10 Rookie of the Week nods this season, only two other individuals have earned the accolade more than once. The award comes on the heels of Hinds-Clarke leading all Spiders in scoring last week at 11.5 points per game. She paced the offensive effort at Dayton as the lone Spider to reach double-figures and followed that up with arguably her most dominant performance of the season, in the clutch no less. She scored all 13 of her points against George Mason in the late third and early fourth quarters, sparking a run that sealed victory for her team.
TOLSON RETURNS
Graduate guard Lauren Tolson has sat out seven-straight games with a knee injury suffered against La Salle on Jan. 18. The injury did not produce any tears and did not require surgery. She returned to score eight points and grab six rebounds in a win over UMass.
KYLIE MURPHREE
The now-junior, was a slow starter in 2015-16 but quickly rounded into form to close out her sophomore campaign. She handed out a team-best and career-high 105 assists last season and will shatter that mark this year, already dishing out 110 through 26 games. She is still searching for her first double-digit scoring performance but scored a career-high nine points in a win at Fordham and matched her previous career-high (8) on five occassions this season. Murphree currently ranks atop the A-10 in assist/turnover ratio (2.2), fourth in assists (110), sixth in assists per game (4.2) and ninth in steals (1.6). All of those numbers are currently career-best marks.
