Spiders Wrap Up ECAC Championships

PRINCETON – The University of Richmond track & field team wrapped up the ECAC Championships on Sunday with a number of Spiders in action against a highly decorated field.
Freshman Peyton McGovern set the tone for the Spiders, collecting the best finish of any of her teammates and doing so in the 1500m run. She ran a career-best time of 4:28.38 to finish sixth, ahead of teammates Amanda Corbosiero (4:29.41), Marisa Ruskan (4:42.67) and Clarie Brown (4:54.69).
The 4x800m relay team of Maria Acosta, Stephanie Hughes, McGovern and Haley Preschutti was good enough to snag a top 10 finish with a time of 9:11.25. Acosta was a member of the A-10 Championship 4x800m team last weekend.
Mary Allen was on the track in the 200m dash and rolled out a time of 24.92 en route to an 11th place finish. The senior is trying to avoid her last race from being run as she attempts to qualify for an NCAA event.
