COLLEGE PARK, Md. – A great defensive effort and stellar goalkeeping performance from the University of Richmond women's soccer team fell just short on Thursday night.

After 109 scoreless minutes, Maryland's Chelsea Jackson scored in the final minute of the second sudden-victory overtime period to give the Terps a 1-0 win over the Spiders.
Â
"This was a great performance by the Spiders tonight," head coach Peter Albright said after the game. "I am so proud of both the effort and the execution. This is another great step forward for our team."
Â

Â
Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Sjodin earned her first start as a Spider, making multiple diving saves to keep the game tied. The rookie finished with seven saves on the day in 110 minutes of play, while Drummond also stopped a Terrapin shot from going in the goal.
Â
The Spiders return to action on Sunday, September 3, when they travel to Charlottesville to face No. 3 Virginia. Kickoff is set for 2pm.
