Spiders In Fifth Place With 18 Holes Left At Steelwood Collegiate

LOXLEY, Ala. -- The Richmond Spiders men's golf team is in fifth place through 36 holes at South Alabama's 54-hole Steelwood Collegiate. After opening with a team score of 297 (+9) in the first round, Richmond shaved 10 strokes off its score in round two and sits at 584 (+8) with Sunday's third and final round remaining.Â
Senior Ben Wanichek shot 72-69 on Saturday is tied for third place at the individual leaderboard at 141 (-3). Sophomore Andrew McInerney, playing in his first event of the season, is tied for 28th at 147 (+3), one shot ahead of teammates Michael Baker and Michael Childress, who are tied for 35th at 148 (+4).
Richmond will wrap up the event - and its fall season - with 18 holes on Sunday. Tee times will begin at 8 AM local time.Â
