Spiders Sign Four-Star Recruit Ricky Bell
11/19/2018 | Men's Tennis
RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team picked up a four-star recruit in Ricky Bell (Rockville, Maryland) during the early signing period, announced by head coach Houston Barrick Monday.
"I am so excited to welcome Ricky to the program," Houston said. "Ricky was someone we identified early on in the recruiting process as someone who fit everything we were looking for in a recruit. He is a great student, a great teammate, and has the potential to do some very big things at Richmond. Ricky is going to contribute right away in both singles and doubles as a freshman."
Bell is a three-time All-Met first team honoree and only had one loss during his junior season to the All-Met Player of the Year. Bell has been ranked as high as 86th in the nation and is currently ranked fourth in Maryland. Bell owns a solid 5-2 record against other 4-star prospects and has earned two wins against five-star opponents. Bell was named IAC Player of the Year in 2016 and has played No. 1 singles for three seasons.
Bell will join the Spiders for the 2019 fall season. For more information about the Richmond men's tennis team visit RichmondSpiders.com or follow us on twitter at spidermten.
