Spiders Set To Start Three-Week Road Trip
12/20/2018 | Men's Basketball
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- After playing eight of their first 11 games at the Robins Center, Richmond will hit the road for its next three games, a stretch that will take the Spiders into their Atlantic 10 schedule.
Â
On Saturday, December 22, the Spiders will face High Point at St. Elizabeth's East Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. as part of the city's Holiday Hoops Fest event. It will be the Spiders second meeting ever against High Point. Richmond defeated the Panthers 80-56 at the Robins Center on November 22, 2014.
Â
Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 PM and tickets are available via Ticketmaster at bit.ly/URDCtix. The game is being broadcast by Monumental Sports Network and will be streamed for free on Facebook (monsports.net/hoops-fest). Tickets also include admission to the Howard vs Hampton game at 5:00 PM.
Â
After Christmas, Richmond will return to action with a road game at South Alabama on December 29. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ (bit.ly/URatSA). Tip-off is scheduled for 3 PM. It will be the second meeting between the Spiders and the Jaguars. The teams met at the Robins Center on December 18, 2014, with the Spiders winning 65-54.
Â
Richmond will open its 18th Atlantic 10 season on January 6 at noon with a road game at Dayton. The contest will be broadcast nationally on the NBC Sports Network, the fifth of at least eight Spiders games that will be shown on national TV during the 2018-19 season. Richmond dropped an 87-81 decision to the Flyers at the Robins Center last season.
Â
ESPN Richmond will also carry all three games lives on 99.5 FM and 950 AM in the Richmond area. Bob Black will provide play-by-play alongside analyst Greg Beckwith.
Â
The Spiders will go three weeks without a home game over the holiday season and won't return to the Robins Center until January 9, when they host Rhode Island. It will be Richmond's longest stretch without a home game during a season since 2013-14, when the Spiders had three weeks between home games against Old Dominion on December 28th and Dayton on January 18th.
