
Spiders Dominate Rhode Island on Senior Day, 7-0

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team sent senior Gaby Rosales off in style.
The Spiders dominated in both singles and doubles play to take a convincing 7-0 win over Rhode Island on Senior Day at the Westhampton Courts.
"It was a solid win for us on Senior Day," head coach Mark Wesselink said. "Gaby dominated, and our doubles play was much improved."
The Spiders jumped out to an early lead with a dominant sweep in doubles action. Dessi Zlateva and Lea Owens paired up at No. 3 to sweep their opponents, 6-0, before Emily Dunbar and Kiana Marshall won 6-1 on court 1. Rosales and Adrienne Haynes rounded things out with a 6-2 win on court 2.
The home squad continued its winning ways in doubles action. Rosales rounded out her final match on the Westhampton Courts with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5, and Zlateva won 6-1, 6-0 on court 3 to give the Spiders a 3-0 lead. Haynes posted a 6-1, 6-1 win on court 6, while Marshall won due to her opponent having to retire at No. 2.
Dunbar pulled off a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 1 to make it 6-0, and Owens rounded out the final score with a 4-6, 6-0, 10-4 comeback win on court 4.
The Spiders have a quick turnaround, as they will head to North Carolina for a pair of matches. Richmond will face off with Elon on Saturday at noon, before heading to Greensboro to face UNCG on Sunday.
