Richmond Signs Andrea Campodonico

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis team has signed international student-athlete Andrea Campodonico to the 2019-20 squad, announced by head coach Mark Wesselink.
"Andrea is not only a talented player who will have an immediate impact but is also mature beyond her years," Wesselink said. "She has an incredible competitive drive and has the kind of personality that can make the whole team better."
Campodonico is from Venezuela but currently lives and plays tennis in Paraguay. She is ranked No. 858 in the ITF rankings, a career-high, and has played in 10 tournaments during the 2018 season.
In her most recent tournament, Campodonico won the Rakiura Cup on Dec. 8 in Paraguay winning five matches. In those five matches, she only dropped two sets in her quarterfinal match (6-2, 2-6, 6-4) and in the championship (6-7 (6), 7-5, retired).
The Spiders will begin their spring season with a road match at William & Mary on Jan. 15 at 2 p.m.
