10/14/2019 | Men's Golf
DULUTH, Ga. -- The Richmond Spiders men's golf team is in 11th place through 36 holes at the Autotrader Intercollegiate at Berkeley Hills Country Club. Playing for the second time in two weeks, the Spiders jumped out to a solid start in the first round Monday morning, spending most of the day in the top half of the leaderboard before finishing the round in sixth place in the field of 13 with a score of 293 (+5). But Richmond lost ground to the field early in the second round, managing a total of just two birdies to offset 16 bogies on the front nine Monday afternoon.Â
The Spiders recorded a team score of 299 (+11) in the second round for a 36-hole total of 592 (+16) and sit four shots behind 10th-place Francis Marion on the team leaderboard. Freshman Ben Cooper is the top Spider on the individual leaderboard. He's tied for 26th in the field of 78 at 146 (+2) after shooting back-to-back rounds of 73 on Monday.Â
Tuesday's final round has been changed to an 8:30 shotgun start due to the threat of inclement weather. Richmond will begin the final round on holes 11 through 14. Â
