
Spiders Conclude Fall Season at Steelwood Collegiate

LOXLEY, Ala. -- Richmond men's golf team wrapped up its fall season on Sunday at the Steelwood Collegiate, finishing 10th in the 13-team field with a 54-hole total of 892 (+28). Sophomore Michael Childress was the Spiders top individual finisher, tying for 16th in the 75-man field at 218 (+2).Â
Childress and junior Michael Baker finished their second rounds earlier on Sunday morning before the Spiders teed off in the third round at 9:30 AM ET. Baker finished the event tied for 42nd at 224 (+8), his lowest 54-hole score of the fall. Senior Andrew Sciarretta shot 221 (+5) to finish tied for 29th and record his career-best third straight top-30 finish.Â
The Steelwood Collegiate was the fifth and final event for the Spiders this fall. Richmond finished no lower than 10th in any event and had its best finish at the Hamptons Intercollegiate earlier this month, placing third for its first top-three finish since the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship. The Spiders registered two of the nine best tournament rounds in program history this fall with a 276 (-12) in the second round of the VCU Shootout and a 280 (-8) in the third round at the Autotrader Intercollegiate.Â
Childress led the Spiders with a 74.27 stroke average in the fall, just ahead of Lou Baker, who finished his first fall season with a stroke average of 74.73 and earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors during the final week of September.Â
