Rain Limits Spiders To 36 Holes At Stitch Intercollegiate

CARY, N.C. – After afternoon thunderstorms stopped play in the middle of the second round on Friday afternoon, a steady rain and foreboding forecast on Saturday led to the cancellation of the third round at the Stitch Intercollegiate. Players finished the second round on Saturday morning, with Richmond posting a 36-hole total of 598 (+22) -- 12^th in the 14-team field.

Junior Andrew Sciaretta led the Spiders in scoring for the first time this season, posting back-to-back rounds of 74 to finish at 148 (+4). Sciaretta finished tied for 46^th in the field of 84 golfers, his best result of the season.

Freshman Michael Childress was one shot behind Sciarretta at 149 after rounds of 73 and 76. Childress finished in a tie for 53^rd place. Sophomore Andrew McInerney shot 75 in both the first and second round to finished tied for 57^th at 150 (+6).

Richmond will return to the course in two weeks when the Spiders compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship at Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla. Richmond, the 2017 A-10 champion, finished fifth at the conference tournament last season.
