What’s New At Robins Stadium In 2019

RICHMOND, Va. – The 2019 Richmond Spiders football season is upon us and if you haven't seen it yet, Robins Stadium has a new, fresh look. Enhancements to the home of the Spiders include a brand-new AstroTurf featuring RED end zones and a brand-new BLUE track. While the additions to the stadium improve the overall aesthetics for the upcoming season, we have several new and improved highlights to capitalize on beginning with the home opener on August 29^th, our first-ever Thursday night game in the 10-year history of Robins Stadium!

CAA preseason Defensive Player of the Year Maurice Jackson leads the Spiders' defense that returns eight starters from last season's team that was one of the top units in the league pressuring the quarterback. Offensively, the Spiders will be boosted by the return of local Richmond product Xavier Goodall, the leading rusher from 2017 who missed all of last season due to injury. Robins Stadium is celebrating its 10^th Anniversary this season! Keep an eye out for fun facts about the stadium and its 10-year history on our Spiders Football social media pages as well as in-game celebrations, ticket specials ($10 single game tickets to the home opener), and more!
The Spiders kick-off their season when they host the Jacksonville Dolphins on August 29^th at 7 p.m. in the first-ever Thursday night game in the history of Robins Stadium! The atmosphere is sure to be electric with UR students back on campus and showing their spirit! Halftime fireworks will light up the sky and ignite the second-half!
NEW TURF & TRACK! The vibrant enhancements made to the Robins Stadium turf and track are stunning, so come see for yourself! Red end zones, fresh green turf, blue track…lock-in those prime seats today to get the best view!
Spider Brews! This staple event across football and basketball season has gotten an upgrade as well! With a new, more concise name, Spider Brews, and a new location for football events on the Robins Center Green in between the Robins Center and College Road, this event is set to have a great atmosphere and larger selection of RVA beers than before. For the second consecutive year, the Richmond Spiders Athletic Department will recognize its new Hall of Fame class in the Fall at the Homecoming Spider Football Game on Saturday, November 2^nd. Join us as we celebrate and recognize our newest Hall of Fame Class!
Back in the Family Fun Zone for select games are the Petting Zoo, Gyrosphere and Tarrant the Richmond Spider! Inflatables, face painting, balloon artists and more will also be present each Spiderlings Kids Club game. You won't want to miss the action in the Family Fun Zone and be sure to get autographs and pictures with our Spider student-athletes too!
Want to bring your group of friends and family to the game? We're now offering Red Zone hospitality experiences starting for groups of just six (6) people at select games. This new experience offers field level views, food, beverage and a party with other Spider fans! Don't worry, you can still rent out an entire Red Zone if you've got a group of 25 or more. For the first time ever, ALL Spider fans have the ability to purchase premium chairback seating in Robins Stadium as well as the opportunity to secure season or single game parking spots in reserved lots. Pregame and halftime will feature five local high school bands including LC Bird High School, Manchester High School, Glen Allen High School, Midlothian High School, and Varina High School. We're excited to extend the opportunity to our surrounding community and can't wait to share their performances with you!
