Hinds-Clarke Receives UR Service For Change Award

RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Jaide Hinds-Clarke was honored with the 2019 Service for Change award at the Engage for Change awards banquet Tuesday morning at the Jepson Alumni Center.
Hinds-Clarke, a senior on the women's basketball team, has made a huge impact on the community of Richmond with her work with the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities as an ambassador for VCIC programs. On campus, she is a LGBTQ program coordinator with the office of Common Ground since 2017.
"I am beyond proud of Jaide in her drive to uphold social justice, change and inclusion," Associate Director for LGBTQ Campus Life Lee Dyer said. "I cannot wait to see what else she accomplishes and congrats on your award."
The award recognizes her commitment to service and relationship building in the Richmond community as a significant part of the college experience. Hinds-Clarke was honored for her dedication to understanding social issues in context, a commitment to valuing the dignity and worth of every individual, a persistent self-awareness and willingness to reflect critically, and ethical approach to engagement.
